RECOVERYCM+
Identify the claims that will cost you the most. Before they do.
RecoveryCM+ is Empatha's technology-powered biopsychosocial risk identification platform — designed for case managers, carriers, and claims professionals who need to know which cases are most likely to stall, and what to do about it.
How It Works — Screen. Stratify. Act.
1. Screen
The injured worker completes a validated biopsychosocial screening in 5–15 minutes on any device. No clinician required at intake.
2. Stratify
RecoveryCM+ scores the claim across four psychosocial risk domains and assigns a risk tier: Low, Moderate, or High. Scores are benchmarked against North American WC norms.
3. Act
A matched program recommendation is generated automatically. High-risk claims are flagged for specialized intervention. Low-risk claims stay on standard pathways. Every tier gets a clear next step.
The risk factors that actually predict delayed recovery.
- Catastrophic Thinking — "I can't stop thinking about my injury. Nothing will get better."
- Perceived Injustice — "Nothing will make up for what happened to me."
- Fear Avoidance — "If I move, I'll make it worse."
- Disability Beliefs — "My doctor says I may never work again."
- Functional Work Capacity — Assessed via MTAP, the only PRO that generates a Physical Demand Category output. Listed in MTUS, ODG, and AMA Guides.
- Recovery Expectations — RTW outlook: a strong independent predictor of return-to-work success.
- Neurocognitive Screening — Post-concussion symptom assessment and cognitive status indicators for TBI and head injury claims.
“Modern performance-integrated self-report measures, such as the MTAP, have the potential to provide information about functional capacity that is sufficiently useful to confirm status and help guide treatment algorithms.”

The workers’ compensation system has spent decades managing the physical dimension of injury. The psychosocial dimension has been largely invisible. RecoveryCM+ makes it visible. Early. At a cost that pays for itself many times over.
Built on the Science. Recognized in the Guidelines.
- Listed in MTUS, Official Disability Guidelines (ODG), and AMA Guides
- MTAP: the only PRO providing a Physical Demand Category output — validated against objective FCE lifting performance (r = 0.89, p < 0.05)
- North American normed — built specifically for U.S. workers' compensation populations
- Peer-reviewed and used in randomized controlled trials
